According to an official announcement that was released on Friday, current Development Minister Nikos Dendias was appointed Defence Minister.

This decision was taken by Prime Minister Antonis Samaras due to the eminent resignation of the current Defence Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos, who is due to assume duties as European Commissioner for Migration and Home Affairs.

Deputy Kostas Skrekas is the new Development Minister.
