Michael Schumacher currently faces the toughest fight of his career. Lying in an induced coma following his accident, Schumacher, according to his doctors is, quite simply, “fighting for his life.”
The seven-time world champion last month came out of the comma and was believed to be in the state of so-called “minimal consciousness”. At this stage he could move for a while his eyes towards people or objects and can answer simple questions, fluttering his eyelids and making small gestures with his head. According to Daily Mail report Schumacher is experiencing also insomnia and sleep cycles, and has been known to react to loud noises with a startled look.
At the same time he remains stationary and is not able to follow any instructions. Not a word or expression as a form of communication or a movement of his legs and arms. He is surrounded by a tube, which is connected with complex machines that feed him and help him breathe and serve his basic needs, while watching all the vital organs. Daily Schumacher receives several hours of massage for stimulating his muscle mass and gets evaluated every hour on whether raise the awareness of the environment increases, decreases or remains constant.
However, there is a sense of underlying optimism that if anyone can pull through an accident of such severity, it’s Michael Schumacher.
