Karytaina is built on a hill with a 550 meters height. Walking through the village you will see lovely stone houses, many of which are of the 19th century.

On the top of the hill dominates the castle from the Frankish period, the Ottoman and the Revolution of 1821. It is built on the ruins of the ancient city Vrenthis and a Byzantine church.  And of course the view is excellent.

The 13^th century Church of St. Nicholas in the Square below with excellent and rare Byzantine pictures is a must seen while visiting the area.
