The Republicans’ victory in yesterday’s Midterm Elections in the United States and the fact that they now control both the Senate and the House of Representatives is considered a serious blow to Barack Obama’s Democratic Government. 

The first African-American President of the United States will go down in history as the White House occupant who lost both Houses of Congress during his presidential term.

According to the results so far, the Republicans picked up 52 of a total of 100 seats in the Senate while the Democrats have managed to win only 45.

At least seven Senate seats appear to be changing hands, confirming all the polls that gave the lead to the Republican Party, forecasting that it would take complete control of the Congress.

At the same time, the House of Representatives, which was controlled by the Republicans, presents a similar picture. Republicans expanded their majority with at least 235 seats out of a total of 435 and the Democrats had 157 seats with a net loss of eight seats.
