Schools and airports suffer due to bad weather

Civil protection has been placed on maximum alert due to the bad weather affecting central and southern Italy.

Due to continuous rainfall, three subway stations in Rome flooded and closed today. The city sees all schools, universities and archaeological monuments also closed.

Five aircraft were unable to land due to the heavy rainfall in Rome’s Ciampino airport, which were ultimately diverted to the larger Fiumicino airport of the city.
