Overdue debt payments in 100 installments

The ministers of Labour and Administrative Governance placed themselves in favor of the regulation

Newsroom November 9 02:48

Labour, Social Security and Welfare Minister Giannis Vroutsis says that the circular for overdue debts to be paid in 100 installments is due on Monday in statements he made to SKAI. He said that taxpayers can ask their insurance funds about what they gain to benefit from this new regulation that will give them leeway to pay their dues to the government.

Mr. Vroutsis said that the specific measure had been on the table of discussion for two years. On Saturday, the government pledged that it would go through as planned despite media reports to the contrary following Troika’s disagreement with the measure.

Administrative Reform and e-Governance Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis also told SKAI that the measure should be applied.

The majority of people with overdue debts to the government will be able to benefit from the government’s plans to allow for these to be paid in 100 installments. It is estimated that four million people will make use of this new legal framework.

This new electronic application for this measure is expected to be ready soon, possibly by Friday, so that the first submissions can be made.
