Tragedy on Thursday afternoon at the small village of Kirinthos in Evia when during football practice a 30 year old man was killed from lightning.

The unfortunate young man was a team player of the local football team and was attending his usual football practice when the incident occur.

According to information he was unfortunately already dead on the way to the medical center.

At the same time another 5-6 player of the local team were also injured from the lightning and were immediately taken to the hospital in Halkida.

Eye witnesses spoke to protothema.gr and described how the football players headed to the locker room after the heavy rainfall that, while the unlucky 30 year old stayed behind just a little bit longer when the lightning fell, causing his  instantaneous death.

According to information the unfortunate young man was the owner of a breed farm in the village of Metohi.
