Deputy PM and FM Venizelos’ statement regarding the terrorist attack in Jerusalem

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that this murderous attack strikes at the efforts to create conditions conducive to the promotion of the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian question.

Newsroom November 18 02:16

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos made the following statement regarding the terrorist attack that took place on Tuesday morning at a synagogue in Jerusalem, causing the death of four worshippers and the injury of many others.

“We unequivocally condemn the abhorrent terrorist attack on a Jewish synagogue in Jerusalem, which cost the lives of four faithful, leaving others wounded. We express our condolences to the families of the victims, and our wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded,” Mr. Venizelos said, according to an announcement released by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that “this murderous attack is not just one more irrational act of violence that strikes at the efforts to create conditions conducive to the promotion of the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian question. It is also an impermissible, intolerant strike at the multicultural and multi-faith nature of Jerusalem, and at the principles of peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance that must govern the conduct of all citizens, regardless of ethnic identity or religious beliefs.”
