According to an announcement released by the Culture Ministry on Wednesday, remains of ancient settlements were discovered submerged in the sea near the Stadium area, during the archaeological research conducted by the ministry in cooperation with the National Research Institute, off the northeastern side of Delos island.
More specifically, 16 clay pots and a furnace were found embedded in the sea floor.
These findings have led the archaeologists to believe that the facilities found were related to commercial and perhaps crafting activities.
It should be noted that excavators have found similar facilities in Italy, in Pompeii and Herculaneum.
