According to the American Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency the warmest months ever recorded were the first 10 months of 2014.
As announced by the above agency for the period January – October 2014 the average surface temperature of the oceans and the land was 10.3 degrees Celsius, surpassing the 1.05 degree average temperature of the previous century.
October was also the third consecutive month and the fifth of the last six months that made temperature record around the globe, while July was the fourth warmest on record since 1880 which was when recording of temperatures first took place.
At the same time this was the 38th consecutive October when the global temperature was above the average of that of the 20th century, reaching the 14.74 degrees Celsius.
With regard to the temperature of the ocean surface, October exceeded by 0.62 degrees the average temperature in the 20th century, which makes the month being the most elevated ever recorded.
