protothema.gr was present while the Minister of Finance was describing the current situation to Greek MPs earlier on.
Mr. Gikas Hardouvelis said that while talking with the MPs that IMF don’t care if Greece goes to elections in March and that the Lenders won’t back down regardless who governs.
However not long after, both Mr. Evangelos Venizelos and Mr. Gikas Hardouvelis following their meeting confirmed the possibility of an extension – an extension of the existing program after the 31st of December which both attempted to attribute in case it gets confirmed, to technical reasons.
Specifically, Mr. Hardouvelis stated on camera regarding to negotiations with Troika that: ” It went well. Although we didn’t close the issues, there was progress. We shall continue”. And added that “We may have an extension for a short period due to technical reasons “.
The Ministry of Finance in an announcement clarifies that Mr. Hardouvelis did not speak of early elections, however agrees with what protothema.gr revealed earlier, that the Minister of Finance did say that the IMF don’t care if Greece goes to elections or who governs Greece.
