According to medical sources his hospitalization in the ICU of a Brazilian hospital was deemed necessary after the deterioration of his health.

According to reports the famous veteran footballer was admitted to hospital on Monday for the second time in a month to be treated for a urinary tract infection.

Just 10 days ago the 74 year old Pele was released from the same hospital after underwent surgery for removing stones from his kidneys. Back then his doctors had stated satisfied for both the surgery and his postoperative process.

However the representative of Pele appeared reassuring while speaking to Reuters  by stating that his client it “absolutely fine” and the reason he was transferred to the ICU was in order to protect his privacy.

In the past the football legend had many health issues.

He retired from world football in 1977, by winning three World Cups and having achieved 77 goals in just 92 games with the shirt of Selesao.

FIFA has awarded him with the title of “Player of the Century” , the International Olympic Committee has called him the  “Athlete of the Century” and the Brazilian government has named him “national treasure”.
