A little after 8:00 am on Saturday morning a man wearing a motorcycle helmet and carrying a shotgun entered a flower shop located on Amphipoleos Street in the area of Touba, Thessaloniki and shot a woman in the face twice.
The armed man then barricaded himself in the shop. Strong police forces quicly surrounded the area, asking local residents to refrain from standing on their balconies.
The police entered the shop in an attempt to persuade the 50-year-old man, reportedly the victim’s husband, to surrender, when he suddenly pointed the shotgun to himself and pulled the trigger. According to the latest information he is heavily injured and is being transferred to the hospital.
According to information, the woman who is the shop owner’s daughter was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
