In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels expressed the concern of its members regarding the increase in VAT rates on hotel services, that is reportedly included in the list of proposed measures the Government has sent to Troika.
More specifically, the Chamber expressed its opposition to this proposal and urged the Prime Minister to intervene in order to prevent the implementation of this measure.
The letter underlines that strategic measures for tourism’s sustainable development should be taken now that this sector is performing very well instead of “shortsighted and wrong measures” which condemn the Greek tourism to return to its gloomy past.
President of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels George Tsakiris concludes the letter by expressing the Chamber’s belief that Mr. Samaras fully realizes that such a prospect will put the Greek economy on a dangerous path and also the hope that he will intervene to prevent it, even at the last moment.
