MP Panayotis Melas announced on Monday his decision to leave Independent Greeks (ANEL) parliamentary group.

Melas ’ recent public statement that he will not adopt the party’s vote on the issue of the Greek President’s election caused friction between him and the party president Panos Kammenos.

It should also be noted that Panagiotis Melas has been implicated in allegations of bribery by another ANEL MP, Ms. Stavroula Xoulidou.

Following Melas’s departure, the Independent Greeks parliamentary group will be left with 12 MPs.
