The Eleftherios Venizelos Athens International Airport (AIA) and BMW Hellas announced the operation of the first electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle charging station at the airport. This means that owners of electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles with TYPE 2 vehicle plug can now charge their car without extra chargers at the Executive Valet Parking and short-term parking P2. Renewable energy sources will be used to charge the cars thanks to solar panels set up on the roof of the airport’s railroad station. The 3.7 kW charger will take around 6 hours to charge a BMWi3 to 80% of the battery’s capacity.
