The British announced that ” the managers of the Parthenon sculptures are excited by the fact that Russian citizens will soon enjoy this nice piece “, and added that ” It is the duty  of managers  to allow citizens of as many countries possible to share their common heritage. ”

The statue of the Greek god will be exhibited at the Russian museum from Saturday the 18th of January for its 250 year anniversary.

This action of the British raised a storm of reactions not only in Greece but throughout the world, where concerned citizens seeking the return of the marbles to Athens.

The Greek Prime Minister made the following statement on the issue: “The decision of the British museum to lend one of the Parthenon Sculptures to the Russian museum  provokes the Greek people” and notes that the British  ” doctrine of ” immutable “Parthenon Marbles shall cease to apply”.

Mr. Samaras said that the same applies for their “argument” for the lack of appropriate space in Greece to  host the sculptures”.

Many prominent personalities worldwide express their rage and declare their support to Greece.

However, the British not only don’t back down but through the manager of the British museum state that “We want to lend the sculptures but only to those who will  give them back”.
