80 million euro is the total amount that the European Investment Bank will make available to generate electricity in 18 islands of the northern and eastern Aegean, the Dodecanese, the Cyclades and the cluster of Diapontion Islands, according to the agreement signed today the 11th of December in Athens by the EIB President Werner Hoyer and President and CEO of PPC Mr. Arthur Zervos, at the presence of the Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change Mr. Yannis Maniatis.
As Mr. Zevros stressed, the funding will be directed to upgrade and improve the islands of Santorini, Lesvos, Samos, Kalymnos, Serifos, Kythnos, Lemnos, Skyros, Kos, Karpathos, Ikaria but also further afield, such as Astypalaia Othoni, the Eriknouses, and Donousa.
