Former PASOK president and Prime Minister, George Papandreou is for the election of a new president by the current parliament, as he stated in a long letter.
Mr. Papandreou attacks the government and the opposition for the situation which the country has reached, saying “The time when the country needed to take advantage of the hard sacrifices of the people and the amazing results, it is facing the Troika without a negotiation plan”.
Mr. Papandreou, once more, defended his decision on a memorandum which ended up not taking place in 2011. “In the end of 2011, citizens were called to really answer issues and data. A hand-on approach which saw the enormous loan our country took, and the largest debt haircut that ever took place”.
Mr. Papandreou expressed his view that Parliament needs to elect a new president, and a new government to be formed straight after.
He mentioned that the current parliament can and should elect a President.
