According to the findings of the Greek Police’s ballistic experts, the two Kalashnikovs that were used in the attack against the Israeli embassy in Athens on Friday were also used almost a year ago, in the attack against the German ambassador’s residence in Halandri, Athens.

Terrorist group “Popular Fighters” claimed responsibility for that incident, which occurred on December 30, 2013. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in any of the attacks.

The attack at the Israeli embassy

A drive-by gunfire attack took place at 03:15 am in the morning of Friday, against the Israeli Embassy in the area of Psychiko in Athens, Greece.

According to police sources, four gunmen riding two motorcycles approached the side of the building on Sokou Street and opened fire with Kalashnikovs. Then, they managed to escape through the Galatsi ring road.

No injuries were caused by the attack and only minor damages were recorded.

Greek authorities closed off a major road outside the embassy early Friday and called forensics experts to search the area. Almost 54 spent bullet cases were found about 40 yards from the building, police said.
