A “jazz magician”, Dimitris Kalantzis will perform his musical miracle just two days before 2014 bids us adieu. On Tuesday, December 30th, the famous pianist can be found at the Musical Theater on Syggrou avenue to tell his own Christmas tale. A tale that has losts of magic, a happy end and a lot of jazz music.
“Santa’s secret dance” is a colorful musical proposition, with a Christmas theme, based on jazz and colored in many different musical genres such as funk, salsa and afro-cuban traditions. Dimitris Kalantzis will be accompany by Mariza Rizou, Sugahspank and Loukia Paleologou.
The repertoire of the concert includes a wide range of songs, from afro-cuban yoruba traditional songs (“canto a Ochun”), european Christmas songs (“I saw three ships”, “Silent night”), to well-known jazz standards (“Have yourself a merry little Christmas”, “Christmas waltz”, “I’ll be home for Christmas”), blues standards (“Merry Christmas baby”), funky 70’s music (“Back door Santa”, “Funky funky Christmas”) and later pieces of Chris Rea (“Driving home for Christmas”) and John Lennon (“Happy Christmas”).
