Leftist Leader A. Tsipras’ Twitter event prompts controversy

The conservatives can see a sinister link between SYRIZA leader A. Tsipras freeing the dove symbolic of the Holy Spirit on Epiphany Day with the online poster advertising his talk on Twitter on Wednesday

Newsroom January 14 08:07

The conservative New Democracy Party is angered by the poster of the Radical Left Coalition SYRIZA poster showing leftist leader Alexis Tsipras freeing a Twitter bird. The poster has appeared online to advertize a live-streamed Twitter event at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

ND deputy Konstandinos Holevas is angered that the image of Mr. Tsipras freeing the Tweet can be compared to his recent freeing of the dove at Piraeus during the Epiphany Day celebrations. Mr. Holevas is angered by Mr. Tsipras’ use of holy symbols of Orthodoxy. He believes that the leftist party wanted to draw a likeness between the Holy Spirit symbolized by the dove and Twitter itself.

SYRIZA’s response? “It is easier to search for a needle in a haystack than to find any seriousness in ND announcements,” said the SYRIZA press office.
