PASOK leader says he has complied with judges on debts during PASOK’s tenure

According to socialist PASOK Deputy PM E. Venizelos, “PASOK is suffering and its former president and prime minister is simply saying: 'Hello, I am creating a new PASOK and you stay to deal with the old one, the one in debt'”

Socialist PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos spoke up against former PASOK prime minister George Papandreou during his interview with Greek radio station Real FM. He noted that the judicial authorities have gotten whatever it is they requested regarding PASOK debts during Mr. Papandreou’s tenure.

Mr. Venizelos was called to comment on a statement made by Mr. Papandreou, who had said: “I am not changing PASOK, I am creating something new”.

“It’s absolutely amazing, isn’t it?” said Mr. Venizelos. “Someone is to blame for our current situation, right? PASOK is suffering and its former president and prime minister is simply saying: ‘Hello, I am creating a new PASOK and you stay to deal with the old one, the one in debt’.”

Furthermore, Mr. Venizelos wondered if “there is a moral, political and historical basis in an attempt which is to complicate and undermine the efforts of PASOK as a historical party, which has come a long way, with contributions to build our country, the welfare state, our democracy, our rights and our standard of living”.
