The residents of Katakolo, a seaside town in the municipality of Pyrgos, Peloponnese, came upon an incredible sight in the morning of Saturday, as they discovered a huge squid washed up on the shore.

Many of the locals rushed to photograph the unique creature that measures well over one meter in length, including its tentacles.

Although much larger squids are known to exist, this type of sea creature is considered very rare in the specific area of Greece.

It should be noted that yesterday more than one sightings of unusually large squid were recorded in the area, however only one has been verified.
