Stavros Theodorakis, the leader of centrist To Potami party which has gained unexpected popularity in the last few months and is likely to win the third place in the Jan. 25 elections, met on Tuesday morning met with Bank of Greece governor Giannis Stournaras in order to be briefed on financial issues.
After the conclusion of the one-hour meeting, Mr. Theodorakis said that he believes the situation is difficult, but under control.
“The bank of Greece in cooperation with the European Central Bank will continue to support the Greek banks and the Greek citizens’ deposits as long as Greeks stick to their commitments and continue to cooperate with the Europeans in solving the existing problems,” he added.
Moreover, he underlined that “To Potami, as a responsible political force, wants to ensure in the upcoming elections that Greece remains in the heart of Europe and continues to enjoy its support.”
