Thousands of party supporters responded to the call of the party just a few days before the elections.
Socialist PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos took the podium of the central election rally at the Sporting stadium of Patissia in central Athens.
At his speech opening, Mr. Venizelos stressed that today Athens is giving a message of unity, rallying and determination, something that was perhaps the only reference to the division of the party, following the withdrawal of Mr. George Papandreou and other members of PASOK.
During his speech, he launched an attack against both the conservative New Democracy and Radical Left Coalition SYRIZA parties. According to Mr. Venizelos, “New Democracy employs blunt intimidation, SYRIZA attempts to form a shroud of delusion and PASOK is the sole advocate of truth.”
“We will side with the rightful government of this country and support it,” stated the President of PASOK.
Among other things, Mr. Venizelos referred to the points that should characterize the course of the country, while further pointing to the lack of political consensus.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of the third party in the coming elections. He concluded by stressing that PASOK is the sole advocate of truth and is addressed to the patriotism of all Greeks.
