Athens traffic rules for SYRIZA and KKE pre-election speeches

Streets in downtown Athens shut down and traffic redirected from Syntagma and Omonia squares on Thursday

Traffic will be closed off at streets around Syntagma and Omonia Squares on Thursday as leaders of the main opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) and Greek Communist Party (KKE) make their main pre-election speeches.

Vehicles are currently not allowed to park around the squares until the end of the rallies.

Patission Street (from the Omonia Square to Alexandras Avenue)
Vassilissis Sofias Street (from the Hilton to Syntagma Square)
Pireos Street (from Iera Odos to Omonia Square)
Athinas Street (from Evripidou to Omonia Square)
Tritis Septemvriou (from Omonia Square to Marnis Street)

Buses and trolleys are also expected to change their routes and trams will stop at Vouliagmenis Street instead of Syntagma Square.

Shutdowns of metro stations at Syntagma Square and Omonia Square are likely.
