A stadium crowd in the western port city of Patras welcomed George Papandreou in his last election campaign rally on Friday evening.
With latest polls placing the newly formed Movement on the cusp of Parliament-representation, the former premier was hopeful that “the values of the socialist democrats will have a place in Parliament”.
He referred again to the past and his tenure as a prime minister, while admitting he took mistaken decision, which were also against his own beliefs.
The leader of the newly formed movement stated that on Jan. 25 ”your fervor will thrust a new political force into parliament”. Furthermore, he repeated why a referendum on keeping Greece anchored to the euro zone is necessary.
Papandreou resigned from the premier’s seat and his party’s helm after negative reactions greeted his proposed for a referendum in late October 2011.
