Former prime minister and one-time PASOK party leader George Papandreou cast his ballot at a school in the upscale Nea Erythrea district, north of Athens proper, at 11.15 p.m., accompanied by his wife, Ada.
“We are at a crucial crossroad, to rid Greece of burdens and clientelism,” he said. “All that is needed is for us to create our own plan for changes and a plan that has the direct seal of the Greek nation, with a referendum.”
