The Movehub website recently published its informative infographic illustrating the places where happiness abounds. The results are based on the latest Happy Planet Index that measures the ability of 151 countries across the globe to offer their citizens long, happy and sustainable lives for their citizens.
Each of the three component measures – life expectancy, experienced well-being and Ecological Footprint – is given a traffic-light score based on thresholds for good (green), middling (amber) and bad (red) performance. These scores are combined to an expanded six-colour traffic light for the overall HPI score, where, to achieve bright green – the best of the six colours, a country would have to perform well on all three individual components.
If you want to go to the place where happiness is abundant, then move to Costa Rica where the HPI is at 64 units. Greek happiness was at 40.6 units, coming 89th in the happiness ranking. It was found that life expectancy was at 76 years and wellbeing ranked at 5.2 with the country’s carbon footprint at 4.
