SYRIZA

The anti-austerity Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) won the Greek election, falling 2-seats short of an outright majority to win 149 seats (36.34%) in a 300-seat Parliament. SYRIZA noted increased results around Greece, with the largest percentage increase in Rhodope, a region in East Macedonia and Thrace, where the party increased its percentage point by 28.69% giving the party 48.5% support. Arta, northwestern, Greece also noted an increase by 15% for the anti-austerity party after its charismatic leader Alexis Tsipras ran for the seat. The party also noted 16% rises in Evrytania, Central Greece, and Lasithi, Crete, and 14% in Trikala, northwestern Thessaly.

Mr. Tsipras said: “The verdict of the Greek people renders the troika a thing of the past for our common European framework.”

SYRIZA

Conservative New Democracy (ND)

The party gathered 76 seats.

“I am handing over a country that is in the European Union and in the eurozone,” said a grim-looking Mr. Samaras. “We restored Greece’s international credibility.”

Ultranationalist Golden Dawn (Hrysi Avgi)
