Lazard, one of capitalist Wall Street’s leading financial advisory and asset management firms, is advising the radical leftist Greek government on the restructuring Greece’s debt free of charge!
That, at least, is the statement by the Greek finance ministry, made yesterday.
Lazard “dipped its feet” into the Greek debt quagmire during the administration of then social PM George Papandreou (2009-11), acting — or working — as an adviser on the PSI “haircut” that clobbered private holders of Greece state bonds.
Meanwhile, the ministry also denied recent press claims that Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis hired the daughters of two of his friends as his personal assistants. The government side said Yanis hasn’t hired anyone.
