A little more than eight out of 10 respondents in a recent opinion poll say they support the government’s handling of the Greek debt and bailout talks with eurozone creditors, according to a nationwide opinion poll conducted by the Marc firm for the pro-SYRIZA “Efimerida ton Syntakton” daily.
Asked about the government’s ongoing and highly sensitive negotiations, 81.5% of respondents said they agreed with the government’s negotiations, while only 14% disagreed and 4.3% did not answer.
A significant figure of 79.7% of respondents expressed optimism over the outcome of the negotiations, while 13.4% said a rift was unavoidable.
The majority of respondents – 81% – said they would like Greece to remain in the eurozone, while 13.4% want a return to a national currency, i.e. drachma.
The new Greek government has the support of 83.6% of respondents in the poll, whereas 13.2% felt negatively about the Greek government.
No figures were given on voter preferences, only on “support” in the current period.
