Sean Penn strikes back: No apologies for joke

He criticized the xenophobia in his country

Newsroom March 9 10:18

Sean Penn strikes back, after the tumult created following his immigration comment about his friend Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s Oscar win: “Who gave this bastard a green card?”.

Penn had cooperated with the Mexican director in 2003 for “21 Grams”. His joke made many a social medialite go up in arms, calling it “insulting and racist”, “horrible and disgusting”.

Responding to his critics, Sean Penn told Associated Press that he is astounded by the stupidity which always seems to prevail. He seemed adamant that he will not be issuing any apologies, and wants to say a huge “F..You” to anyone stupid enough not to understand his sarcasm of the xenophobia in his country. He clarified again, that this is the humor between him and Inarritu.
