Alternate Finance Minister Dimitris Mardas said a bill on the settlement of overdue debts to the state will be delayed several days. The reason given was the government’s interest in avoiding “flaws”, so that the bill can be comprehensive.
“What matters is for a perfect bill to be tabled and this is the issue, that in my view, delays the whole process,” he said on Tuesday, adding that there are many views concerning the bill, some even expressed from abroad.
Mardas said there were no “unilateral actions, which would have fiscal cost” when he was asked whether the postponement was the result of a unilateral action on the part of Greece’s international creditors.
