The Vanuatu archipelago, north of New Zealand is experiencing one of the worst cyclones in history since Saturday morning when it hit landfall. “Pam”, a category 5 tropical storm, is characterized by 340 km/h winds. It hit the Vanuatu island complex on Saturday morning, rampaging very close to the capital of Port Villa.

According to preliminary information, untold destruction has been caused, including dozens of dead, according to a top official of a humanitarian aid organization. Twenty more people have been injured.

A Unicef spokesman spoke of 15 to 30 minutes of ultimate terror, as Pam ripped passed Vanuatu.

Roadways and ports have been filled with debris, while houses and nature have both been ripped off their foundations.
