A German film company on Tuesday announced plans to produce a movie about the life of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. If the schedule goes according to plan, the film will be released in 2017, coinciding with parliamentary elections in Germany.

According to a press release by the studio AVE Gesellschaft für Fernsehproduktion, the biopic is tentatively entitled “Angela Merkel” and will be an international co-production.

The actress who will portray the German Chancellor as well as the rest of the cast will be chosen in autumn.

According to the same sources, a script has already been written by a Der Spiegel reporter Dirk Kurbjuweit, a veteran political pundit in Germany, Chancellery insider and acquaintance of the German “Iron Lady”.
