Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris is requesting a meeting with Economy, Infrastructure, Shipping and Tourism Minister George Stathakis to discuss the city metro following a ministerial document claiming that the municipality bears responsibility for delays in its construction.

“Attiko Metro is trying to put the entire blame on the municipality, even the planning,” states Boutaris. “I was informed of the document, will look into it and contest it.”

The document, issued by the Attiko Metro, was the response of a question of MPs of the Communist Party who wanted to be informed as to why delays were taking place concerning the construction of the metro system of Thessaloniki.
