Photo exhibition on Walls of Constantinople to kick off on March 23

The exhibition is complemented by a Byzantine military armor, constructed by Dimitris Katsikis

Newsroom March 19 02:16

On Monday, March 23, a fascinating photo exhibition will kick off at the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Alimos, offering its visitors the opportunity to admire 60 photographs of the Walls of Constantinople, a series of defensive stone walls that have surrounded and protected the city since its founding as the new capital of the Roman Empire by Constantine the Great.

Titled “The Walls of Constantinople and their Defenders” the exhibition features photographs taken by two Spanish nationals, who donated their work to the Institute of Byzantine, Greek and Cypriot Studies of Spain.

The Institute’s Director, Prof. Makis Morfakidis, kindly agreed to lend the exhibition to Alimos Cultural Centre, after its successful presentation in Chania and Sparta.

The exhibition is complemented by a Byzantine military armor, constructed by Dimitris Katsikis, who used as a model the armors that appear in Byzantine frescoes.
