Roughly half the respondents in a latest opinion poll commissioned by Proto Thema consider prospects for default or Grexit “exist” in the coming period!
Six out of 10 respondents, in fact, believe some type of “credit event” is possible, while at the same time giving ruling SYRIZA a double-digit lead over second place New Democracy (ND) party.
The poll, conducted by the firm Metrisi for Greece’s largest selling Sunday paper and most visited news site, polled respondents between March 31 and April 2.
Leftist SYRIZA, the ruling party, is preferred by 35.2 percent of respondents to ND’s 23.6 percent, allowed the former’s showing is significant reduced from poll results published last month.
Golden Dawn and Potami are third with 5.4 percent, followed by the Communist Party (5.1), the junior coalition party, the Independent Greeks (4.8) and PASOK, which at 2.9 percent would not enter Parliament with such a tally.
Speficially on the economic situation, 54.7 percent of respondents see the possibility of default in the coming period; 52.6 percent consider the spectre of “Grexit” as possible.
