The Athens International Airport had more than a million travelers pass through its gates in March, a 24.5% increase in passenger traffic since 2010. The figure, released by airport authorities, shows that international flight passengers increased by 20% and domestic flight passengers by 33.2%.
Domestic passengers posted a significant increase in their use of the airport (21%) whereas numbers of Greek travelers on domestic flight rose by 36%. Foreign travelers choosing to come to Athens as a destination rather than just a transit point rose by 29%.
