Ferries increase for Easter travel

Additional ferries to make up for previous days when ferry services were disrupted due to bad weather

Newsroom April 11 03:58

Extra ferry journeys for passengers over the Orthodox Easter break were added on Holy Saturday. Coast Guards were stationed at all departure points at Piraeus port to help those wanting to travel after the bad weather prevented ferry travel over the last two days.

The Piraeus traffic police were on call to assist the movement of vehicles. Those who want to take their cars with them are advised to be at the port at least an hour before departure.

There will be 12 ferries departing from Piraeus on Saturday instead of the eight initially scheduled. No changes were made to ferry schedules from Rafina and Lavrio with five ferries departing from Rafina and four from Lavrio.

The Nissos Mykonos ferry, that had encountered problems, finally managed to leave Syros Harbor when winds dropped on Friday night. Its return journey will include stops at Fournoi, Chios, Mytilene, Limnos and Kavala, as well as Ikaria and Samos.

9,564 passengers left from Piraeus port on Friday night when the sailing ban was lifted – 6,589 to the Saronic Gulf. 4,328 passengers left from Rafina and 832 from Lavrio.
