Greece and Russia are to cooperate in energy issues with a meeting between Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Gazprom chief Alexei Miller at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Prior to this, Miller will meet with Productive Reconstruction, Environment and Energy Minister Panagiotis Lafazanis.
The men will discuss a new pipeline that will bring natural gas from Turkey via Greece to Central Europe. This investment is estimated to be at 2 bln euros, whereas its implementation will improve the supply safety for the Greek market, create new work positions and upgrade the country geopolitically.
On Wednesday, Lafazanis will visit Sofia to participate in the trilateral Greek-Bulgarian-Romanian meeting to promote what is known as the “vertical” pipeline aiming to identify new sources of gas supply for countries in the region.
