Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said that Greece was close to a deal with creditors after late-night talks on Wednesday night. Early on Thursday, he emerged confident that Greece would make the payment to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Friday despite earlier reports that this had been hanging in the balance. Specifically, when asked about the payment, he said: “Don’t worry about it.”
Tsipras told journalists that discussions would present a “realistic point of view” and appeared adamant that – despite reports that creditors had drafted their own accord – the proposals under discussion would be the “Greek proposals”.
