Samaras: Tsipras, SYRIZA wanted to take Greece out of euro all along

'What’s the point of this referendum? Why create divisiveness? Why did the country have to collapse?' he asked,

Newsroom July 3 09:56

Main opposition New Democracy party leader Antonis Samaras on Friday again charged that Greek PM Alexis Tsipras was flat out lying the Greek people and simply aiming to take the country out of the eurozone.

He also charged that the radical leftist leader was intentionally misinterpreting an IMF report on Greece’s debt sustainability, which was released on Thursday.

“The same report blames his (Tsipras) government for the deterioration of Greece’s economy over the past five months,” Samaras underlined, adding that this was the reason why the leftist government proposed an even harsher memorandum.

“What’s the point of this referendum? Why create divisiveness? Why did the country have to collapse?” he asked, rhetorically.

“They (SYRIZA) wanted to take our country out of the euro zone with the approval of our people,” he charged, adding:

“I urge all Greeks, whatever they believe in, to head to the polls united, and most importantly, no matter what they vote for, to be united the day after,” he said.
