Greek police arrested 4 human traffickers and 24 illegal immigrants while they were attempting to cross the river Evros in a rubber boat in Orestiada, Northern Greece. The special illegal immigrants unit in a planned operation initially detected two of the human traffickers and later their other two accomplices and proceeded to arrest all. They allegedly hid 24 illegal immigrants on the back of a pick-up truck and planned to transport them to the interior of the country. 2 of the arrested traffickers were Pakistanis, while the other 2 were Bulgarian. 17 of the illegal immigrants were from Syria, 6 from Iraq and 1 from Pakistan.
