President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos expressed the need for an emergency EU-Summit on the issue of refugee and immigrant flows to Europe, while receiving leader of Greek party Potami Stavros Theodorakis at the Presidential Mansion, Wednesday. He expressed his surprise that Europe and the UN had failed to take any steps regarding the war-torn areas of the Middle East and especially Syria. “There needs to be a foreign policy on the part of Europe and the international community, especially the UN”, said the President. He added that in light of the emerging security matters and the evolving humanitarian crisis Europe could not play the role of ‘Pontius Pilate’. “It is a European and a global matter”, he said. Theodorakis, on his part, dubbed the immigration issue one of grave national concern.
