According to LesvosNews.gr, two riot police squads will arrive on the island since the authorities fear of riots similar to what occurred last weekend. Lesvos Greek Port Police are finding it virtually impossible to handle the increasing numbers of people descending on the port without the assistance of more police units.

As a temporary solution, about 4,000 migrants will be transferred to Piraeus within the day.

A whopping 17,500 migrants — Syrian refugees and third world nationals riding on the ‘coat-tails’ of the Syrian civil war — have landed on the island in one week alone. Practically all have disembarked from the opposite Turkish coast.
