Speaking to large crowd in the city of Larissa, central Greece, Saturday, New Democracy leader Evangelos Meimarakis called on his supporters to rally behind the party and help it create a stable government for Greece. Meimarakis asked the crowd to compare Tsipras’s promises and what he had delivered as a government over the past seven months. He posed the rhetorical question over which party displayed credibility and inspired trust to the people. He continued by underlining that New Democracy served the unity of all Greeks, adding that ‘progress’ was not ideological obsessions or populism, but responsibility. Meimarakis made it clear that his party would fight against the measures voted in that ‘hurt’ the farming community.
