The 7th annual Aegina Pistachio Festival kicks off on September 24, with four days of fun, food, and ofcourse fystiki (pistachio).
The festival was the brainch;id of a group of people who wanted to share the humble pistachio of Aegina with the world. The Municipality of Aegina embraced the event that catapulted to become the largest commercial and economic event in the region with more than 20,000 visotors!
A Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product, Aegina Pistachio entered the lists of protected products in 1994. The study found that Aegina Pistachios had unique flavor that is found nowhere else in the world.
Several surprises have been planned for the locals and visitors. Numerous children’s activities will take place with music performances, visits to sites and historical exhibits around the city.
